Mozilla Festival, also known as MozFest, will take place October 28-30, 2026 in Barcelona, Spain.
Organizers invite submissions in response to the 2026 theme: Wilding
“At MozFest,” says Zeina Abi Assy, Festival Director, “Wilding is an invitation to restore balance: cultivating infrastructures rooted in care, mutuality, and collective action.”
In a moment when technology feels increasingly centralized, extractive, and controlled, Wilding is a provocation: what happens when we loosen rigid systems and create the conditions for communities and technologies to evolve collectively, naturally, intuitively?
Inspired by ecological practices of rewilding, where gardens and forests are left to regenerate through their own intelligence, this theme explores what it means to let our digital worlds grow wilder, more diverse, and more alive. It means community-owned mesh networks, federated platforms, open protocols, community archives and tools built on transparency, trust and mutual flourishing.
How You Can Contribute
Host a session or booth: Lead a thought provoking Talk, run a skill-building Lab, or open up a participatory Forum that gets people co-creating and re-imagining an alternative digital future together. Or, host a booth to showcase your projects, spark conversation, and share resources.
Display your art: Design an art installation that inspires attendees to think about community-led technology in new, creative ways.
Organizers are keen to receive proposals that advance a community-led tech future – one rooted in care, participation, and shared power.
Submissions due by May 24 online.
Limited travel funds available for some session hosts, focusing on participation from individuals in Global Majority countries.
