Activating Artistic Intelligence

Activating Artistic Intelligence is an international action research project led by Art/In Forum. Funded by the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council in Canada, the project is in its early stages.

The two primary goals of Activating Artistic Intelligence are to:

  1. Extend and deepen the resilience of arts, culture, and heritage in responding to the world’s multiple urgent and emergent crises which have sociocultural ramifications that cannot be addressed by science, technology, engineering, math, and AI alone, e.g. loneliness, isolation, social polarization
  2. Increase understanding and know-how among funders, innovators, problem-solvers, and policymakers to mobilize the intelligences that reside within arts, culture and heritage.

Artistic knowledge and cultural practice play important roles in collective strategies. We need stories, language, frameworks, and case studies that enable decision-makers to know how to engage artistic intelligence, how to work with artistic intelligence, and how to direct resources.

The project is actively seeking collaborators, partners, and other interested stakeholders. Upcoming meetings will be online, in Canada, and in Europe.

Co-Principal Investigators:
