Join the new Forum for Artistic Intelligence (ART/IN Forum) to shape the development of this growing field.

Artistic intelligence is an applied practice, a human technology matching cultural knowledge to social need.

The term ‘artistic intelligence’ was coined by the Laboratory for Artistic Intelligence to describe the practice of bringing artists and artistic methods to address complex public and social challenges.

Artistic intelligence interfaces between civil society and arts, culture, and heritage – between the structural and intangible, between the material and ineffable dimensions of life.

ART/IN is artistic intelligence.

ART/IN Forum values plurality of wisdoms, and diverse approaches across sectors, functions, and social goals. We believe that social crisis, social innovation, and global transformations like climate change, require the insights of people knowledgeable about humanity in its creative, imaginative, emotional, and sociocultural aspects.

Together, we are building:

  • A platform to bring artists and artistic methods into parts of society where more curiosity, imagination, and balance is needed.
  • Bridges for you to work with others outside of the sector(s) you specialize in.
  • A forum to converge and connect people from across sectors, disciplines, and spheres of work.

Join us if you:

  • Work in the messy reality of social change
  • Want to reimagine how the world works
  • Value plurality and practice as much as theory
  • Believe the best insights sometimes come from unexpected places

If you are new to all this:

  • Subscribe to learn about training and professional development opportunities
  • Describe your interests and the areas you want to bring this work into
  • Determine your imagination profile

Milestones:

In 2019, the Laboratory for Artistic Intelligence was launched to centre and explore ‘artistic intelligence,’ and its potential to lead intersectoral collaborations to address complex public and social issues.

In 2024, ELIA, Europe’s leading network for higher arts education and research, convened the world’s first conference explicitly devoted to the concept of ‘artistic intelligence.’

In 2025, Science Business published leaked drafts of funding guidelines for a key program of the European Union, marking the first time that the concept of ‘artistic intelligence’ has been recognized at a governmental level.

In 2026, Horizon Europe is anticipated to announce a new ‘Artistic Intelligence’ funding stream to mobilize the power of the arts to address complex challenges in the polycrisis era.

Interest in and use of ‘artistic intelligence’ is growing. Join ART/IN Forum to be a part of the work.
